What is your definition of success?

Sometimes, the simplest questions, are the most poignant, and difficult to answer. I hate to answer any question with it with the response “It is relative.” But, it is the correct response, it can be anything. For some it can be wealth, status, positions of leadership in public or private sectors, breaking out of one’s comfort zone, raising money for a local charity, or simply learning a new skill. It is a definition that is left open to the interpretation an individual.

So, then the question is “What is my interpretation of success?”. Success to me is the achievement or the attainment of goal in accordance with my values. A simple answer to the question that does not address the more questions of how we develop our goals, what goals are appealing, and how we develop our values.

Reflecting back on my list, it is my opinion that the 10 points are good tips to success in a variety of situations and definitions of success. Of course the list is as relative as my definition.

Wow – that’s a great answer. I love that you didn’t try to be ‘fake’ like most others. I would agree that your 10 points do work in most people’s definition of success. To me they almost read like “10 commandments to live a happy life”

Thanks for the compliment. I think a lot of it goes back to the “Golden Rule.” As I have gotten older, I have learned that all the “Secret of Life” puzzle pieces are out there. It is just an issue of putting them together.
